Ensuring Easy Access to Ayushman Bharat Scheme for Patients

Workshop organized at SGPGIMS for EHCP Training

A training workshop was organized at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow, with the objective of enhancing the efficiency of empanelled health care providers (EHCPs) under the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and to bring standardization in the scheme's implementation.

This workshop was jointly led by the State Agency for Comprehensive Health and Integrated Services (SACHIS) and SGPGIMS.

Professor Rajesh Harshvardhan, Head of Hospital Administration and Medical Superintendent, informed that over 2,546 hospitals in Uttar Pradesh are empanelled under this scheme, including 1,032 government hospitals, 1,220 private for-profit institutions, and 294 private non-profit organizations.

A total of 60 representatives from various districts of the state participated in the program. Key dignitaries present included Archana Verma, Chief Executive Officer of SACHIS; Dr. Pooja Yadav, Additional CEO; Professor Devendra Gupta, Chief Medical Superintendent of SGPGIMS; and Ranjit Sameer, General Manager and Head of Human Resources.

During the inaugural session, Professor Harshvardhan emphasized the need for such training and highlighted the critical role of EHCPs in the scheme. Professor Devendra Gupta described the scheme as a "game changer" for the underprivileged, stating that it provides free medical services to those who were earlier deprived of treatment.

In the technical sessions, the SACHIS team provided detailed insights into various digital components of the scheme, including:

Participants were also briefed on the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay State Government Employee Cashless Medical Scheme, with a focus on its integration and practical benefits.
