Four problems: Hip bone was already broken; someone was getting ready for surgery.


 


During his first four illnesses  broke his hip. Three hospitals refused to treat the bone. Problems increased, along with bed shore , chest infection increased but Sanjay Gandhi controlled all the problems at PGI's Apex Trauma Center and got him back on his feet after hip surgery. Orthopedic surgeon of Apex Trauma Center, . According to pro Pulak Sharma, 80-year-old woman Vimala Devi, resident of Lucknow, broke her hip bone while coming down the stairs. Admitted to the hospital nearest to his home. First aid for the fracture was administered. During medical evaluation at the hospital, it was discovered that he had severe heart disease (severe aortic stenosis) and interstitial lung disease, and his BP and sugar levels were also uncontrolled. Seeing this, he was referred to another private hospital. Another private hospital also decided not to perform the operation and advised him non-operative treatment. Medical Superintendent of Apex Trauma Center and Head of Hospital Administration Department, Prof. Rajesh Harsh Vardhan said that this was a very challenging surgery because there were many problems which we accepted.


  


Bed sores and chest infections due to untreated treatment


Due to lack of treatment, Vimala Devi remained bedridden due to which she developed bed sores and chest infection. Had severe heart disease, bedsores, uncontrolled BP, uncontrolled diabetes, chest infection. Three other hospitals refused to operate on him, saying he could die during or after the surgery. The family brought him to Apex Trauma Center.


Anesthesia given with special technique made the surgery successful


 


 On September 11, he was operated on by giving anesthesia through nerve block and advanced technology. His fracture was stabilized and fixed using the latest technology. Both these methods helped in reducing the surgery time to less than an hour.After the operation, he was kept in ICU. Transferred to the ward after 24 hours. Apex Trauma Center proved to be a boon for SGPGI, Vimala Devi.
