Kumar Sanjay. Lucknow

Fifty percent of adults and 60 to 65 percent of children with lupus (systemic lupus atheromatous) are likely to have kidney disease. This problem is called lupus nephritis in medical language. If there is no timely solution to this problem, the kidney can respond completely, in which case dialysis and kidney transplant are the only ways of treatment. There is good news for lupus patients that new drugs are successful in saving the kidney. On the occasion of World Lupus Day (May 10), Sanjay Gandhi PGI Head of Department of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology, Prof. Amita Agarwal, Voclosporin is a chemical that controls the body's immune system by acting on T cells. This chemical controls kidney problems to a great extent. Prevents kidney problems from increasing. This chemical is in tablet form which is easy for patients to take. Apart from this, the level of the medicine does not have to be seen by giving this chemical. Tacrolimus, cyclosporine and other chemicals have to see the drug level to decide the quantity. It is proving to be more effective than other chemicals. Similarly, another new chemical is anifluromab chemical which prevents the disease from progressing by acting on interferon. Pro. Amita told that on this occasion, the department is starting a special awareness series for the patients affected by this disease, which will run for the whole week.
