PGI-AI data will tell what is the risk during anesthesia

37th Foundation Day Celebration of PGI Anesthesia Department

AI data will tell what is the risk during anesthesia

AI will make surgery safe

PGI is working on 2 model

Sanjay Gandhi PGI is going to prepare an Artificial Intelligence (AI) based program (algorithm) to make the surgery safe. On the 37th foundation day of the Department of Anesthesiology of the Institute, Prof. Sandeep Khuba said that pre-anesthesia checkup is necessary before surgery, for this, after various tests of the patient, we see how fit the patient is for surgery. We are working on such an algorithm in which after feeding all the data of the patient, the program will tell how many medicines will be given during the surgery and in what quantity so that the surgery can be made safe. It can also be seen how much surgery will be safe in this patient and what are the risks which can be managed first. Head of the department Prof. Prabhat Tiwari said that the role of anesthesia is continuously increasing. It plays an important role in pain management, protection of all body parts during surgery, post-operative care and ICU care after surgery. During the pre-anesthesia checkup, the problems during surgery can be reduced by giving complete information to the doctor about the patient's allergies, the medicines he is taking, the treatment he has taken before, family history of the disease. Prof. Sujit Gautam on AI, Prof. Tapas Singh Ethics, Prof. Puneet Goyal on the future of anesthesia, Prof. Chetna Shamsheri, technical officer Rajeev Singh and others presented their views on balance between work and life.

Sensor will control medicine during surgery

Pro. Khuba said that we are working on target control infusion.  During surgery, many parameters including heart rate, blood pressure, saturated oxygen level are monitored. We are making such an AI based program in which the center will inject medicines into the body to control these parameters. This will help in increasing the success of the surgery.
